Living Hope has released organic Shea butter from northern Uganda. The nut is extracted from the fruit of the vitellaria tree, known as the Shea tree, which grows wild in the savannah belt from Senegal to East Africa. Our Shea is of the Nilotica variety which is unique to Uganda and Southern Sudan. This project is one of our many income generating activities, and through it we have empowered over 62 women in Gulu.
We are always looking for ways to provide women with opportunities through local, practical and sustainable projects. Shea butter, known as Mooyaa in northern Uganda, is used locally as a body lotion and cooking oil.
This creamy beauty balm is perfect for keeping your hands and lips moisturized through the harsh winter weather. Our beautiful labels were created by Jordan from Polkadot Prints. The tins come with a small spatula made here in Uganda from cow horn. Our Shea Butter is available through the Return to Dignity tour. You can find Marilyn’s tour details here.
