INDIVIDUAL VOLUNTEER

Individuals who are able to come for a longer period of time (a minimum of one and maximum of six months) can do so as individual volunteers.

Individual volunteers applications are assessed and approved through an admissions process, which among other things includes the completion of an application and assessment. They are deployed annually based on the availability of opportunities, volunteer training and the interest, skills, work and missions experience of the individual.

Volunteers serve in different departments such as Baby Watoto , the Projects Department where they get involved with the construction of various building structures or in the Education Department as teachers or teaching assistants. There are other volunteer opportunities available from time to time.

The five month course, run in Kampala, Uganda integrates theory with active participation in the ongoing ministries within Watoto Church, including prison ministry, hospital outreach, ministry to those living with HIV/AIDS, as well as the orphans and widows within Watoto Child Care Ministries. If you are interested in Watoto360º, write us at watoto360@watoto.com.

If you are interested in visiting Watoto as an individual volunteer, check out and keep track of the available opportunities through the Volunteer Opportunities list. Those interested in any of the listed or other opportunities, please contact us at volunteer@watoto.com.

Once you have decided to come as a volunteer or was part of Watoto360º and would like to begin fundraising, please contact us at fundraising@watoto.com.

PLEASE NOTE: Priority will be given to individuals who have come to Uganda with a team before because they have experience of working in Uganda. We encourage all those considering a medium to long-term mission trip (6 months) with Watoto to do so as part of a team because it will provide them with the opportunity to learn more about the organisation and the realities of the cross-cultural experience.
