WINTER WONDERLAND

2 December 2010

The Restore Tour Team encountered a fantastical winter wonderland last week as a seemingly heaven sent snow storm filled the city and its surrounds with a powdery white dusting. Thrilling the children no end and answering their prayers for the wintry weather hallmark - snow ball fights  ensued alongside snow ball competitions.  Arriving at Bradford’s Abundant Life Church in Scotland on 27 November, the event was exhilarating, regardless of the drastically dropping  temperatures (between negative 3 and 6). After a very energetic and emotional production, Pastor Charlotte Scanlon-Gambill reiterated the work that Watoto is doing saying “Watoto children don't just get rescued for today, that are also offered a brighter hope for tomorrow... Their dreams are incubated for the future.”

A snow-covered journey continued into Perth, Scotland slowing down the usual 6-hour journey to  a whopping 12 hours with roads closed and congested traffic blocking the slate covered  motorways. Arriving a mere one hour before the beginning of the concert, the bad weather meant the crowd was literally snowed in and the team was forced into cancelling the concert.

Our team is now safe, warm and cosy. They are looking forward to hopping on a plane and  coming home to Uganda for a much deserved break to spend the holiday season with family and friends. As well as a hometown rendition of the production in the New Year.

Heading ‘Down Under’ in January 2011, the Restore Tour: Child Soldier No More will be back on the road in no time! You can be part of the journey find out when we are going to be in your city. Check out www.restoretour.com for our upcoming tour dates. And send in any life-changing experiences you may have encountered from the tour to restoretour@watoto.com.
