WATOTO CHOIR CHARMS ROTARY GUESTS

27 September 2010

Watoto Children’s Choir, on September 17th took part in the Rotary International Zone 20A celebrations at Speak Resort Munyonyo in Kampala, Uganda.

The event, attended by many of the club delegates from the world over like Austria, Turkey, Zimbabwe, Gabon, Cameroon and Germany among others was greatly brought to life by the energetic live performances of Watoto Children’s Choir #39.

The choir only recently returned from tour, lifted the spirits in the room as they danced and sang their hearts out selecting songs from their most recent album, Mambo Sawa.

The club that goes by the motto ‘service above self’ directs all its projects towards the developing local communities. Watoto Church, the home of the Watoto Children’s Choir is a community based church that serves the needs of the community.

“Rotary Club invited us to be part of this event and we gladly accepted because we are both engaged in humanitarian work. We both meet the need in our communities,” says Sam Kimera, the choir team leader.

In 2009, Rotary Club Kampala donated a consignment of assorted household items to Watoto.
