As part of spreading the Christmas cheer here at Watoto every year, sponsors of Watoto children send christmas gifts to the children, wishing them a merry Christmas and a blessed new year.
The children are always excited at the time because they receive gifts. To them, as to all of us, this is an expression of love and affection. And they treasure these dearly.
Visiting Watoto villages and watching the children embrace their gifts is so heartwarming.
“I was asked by one of the mothers to help carry some boxes up to the multi-purpose hall. Little did I know that they were gifts from our sponsors and when I was told that I have one too, I was so thrilled and could not wait to see what I had received,” Josiah Bafaki from Suubi village narrates. “I was so excited to find a torch and three t-shirts from my sponsor,” he adds.
9-year-old Kenneth Bwoogi, one of Josiah’s brothers also received a parcel and with so much excitement narrates how the gifts got his spirit lifted. “I was told that I had received a gift and when I unwrapped it, I found a football jersey, a soccer ball, and letters. I eagerly tried them on in the presence of my mother. I can’t wait to write a thank you note to my sponsor for sharing this gift with me.”
We are grateful to every sponsor for giving these children a special festive treat.
