VOLUNTEER TO CHANGE A LIFE

17 September 2010

One of Watoto's amazing blessings includes the privileged support we receive from willing hearts across the world who make their way to our beautiful country in the form of volunteers. Whether these precious individuals work at the babies' homes, in the production unit, in support functions in our office, at the Watoto schools or in the medical clinic, their contribution is crucial to the very livelihood of our ministry to the precious lives in our care.

Colleen and Henrik Hinkalla are two of these dear people. Joining us for a month, they have already found themselves being very relevant to the Watoto cause and vision.

Henrik is a building project manager and mountain climbing enthusiast. His desire to come to Africa was largely motivated by the sound of his wife’s gentle prodding to get out of Canada and on a plane. Living in Suubi Village, Henrik spends his days working at the goat farm and overseeing the building plans and construction of the new dairy production facility.

Colleen, on the other hand, is a specialist HIV nurse and is vital in the teaching and training of HIV care to High School students. She splits her free time at the Baby Watoto Suubi and the goat farm.

We are so grateful to have such skilled individuals who are willing to share their time and talent to partner with us. If you are interested in volunteering your skills and talents with Watoto – we would love to hear from you at volunteer@watoto.com.
