So much joy and gladness radiated off the faces of every one present at the conference hall of Emerald Hotel, Kampala this week as we celebrated the graduation of seven Watoto young adults from university - two males and five females.
Fred Erisata graduated with a second upper degree in law. In his absence, Watoto Founder, Gary Skinner, wished the graduates all of God’s blessings through an eMail, “Graduates, remember that with Jesus big on the inside of you, you are the hope of Africa. Watoto has prepared you well for this momentous day, you must now step out full of confidence, dignity, and purpose.”
Joseph Bisoke, a Youth Worker at Watoto comments, “We’ve had more degree students this year compared to last year. This year is also more diverse in the qualifications as opposed to last year and looking back at the ups and downs we have had, it’s an amazing achievement."
Graced by the presence of members of the Watoto leadership team like Alan Penry, the Chief Executive; Watoto Pastor, Doug Stride; Homes Management Team Leader, Aoora Majugo and Watoto moms and other staff members, the event was a memorable occasion.
The graduates couldn’t hold back their tears as they thanked their mothers, pastors, education department leaders and Watoto as a whole. “I do not know where I would be if God hadn’t saved me through Watoto,” Lydia Nakimuli one of the graduates and former student of the Watoto3600 programme said in tears.
