A speech from the out-going Local Council V Chairman of Gulu, Mr. Norbert Mao commended Watoto for the amazing job it has and continues to do in the lives of the people of northern Uganda, restoring hope and giving the children a future.
“For every tear you (Watoto) have wiped away, that’s a monument!” Mr. Mao proclaimed.
“Watoto and all partners around the world, you have embraced our children and showed them that it is possible to have a future,” he added.
The event was graced by various government officials, political leaders, parliamentarians, businessmen and foreign diplomats.
Mr. Jack Wavamuno, a prominent businessman commented, “The message was very, very powerful. Watching these former abductees in person, hearing their stories was incredible. Indeed many a face in the audience were moved to tears, myself inclusive. I thank God for giving me the opportunity to attend the event. I also congratulate the entire Watoto team for putting together such a programme.”
