Watoto Founder and Ministry Team Leader, Gary Skinner has been recognised by Ugandan youth for his selfless service to vulnerable children and providing exemplary leadership.
The Young Achievers' Award ceremony took place on 3rd December 2010 at the Serena Hotel in Kampala, Uganda and was presided over by His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of Uganda. The initiative is designed to create a platform for harnessing talent, showcasing excellence and innovation among Ugandan citizens while inspiring others to pursue their dreams, addressing the pressing issue of unemployment among the youth through promotion of job creation and alternative skills training programmes particularly, vocational skills.
Under the ‘Heroes’ category, Gary Skinner who is looked up to as a senior citizen – having lived in Uganda for over 26 years - was appreciated for his unyielding effort in creating a safe and nurturing environment for vulnerable children in Uganda, and a show of exemplary leadership and initiative.
Skinner was recognised for his tireless efforts to raise leaders in Uganda and Africa through Watoto Child Care Ministries and through other community and leadership initiatives in Watoto Church, which he founded.
“This year, the young achievers award initiative recognises Pastor Gary Skinner by awarding him the ‘Heroes Award',” announced the MC.
In October, university students recognised Gary for his selfless service to vulnerable children and other individuals as well as providing strong and magnetic leadership to young people through the Integrity Awards.
