DEDICATION SERVICE

30th September 2010

Yesterday afternoon Senior 4 and Senior 6 Watoto students from both Bbira and Suubi High Schools were dedicated in an annual ceremony to celebrate their scholarly achievements thus far and commit their upcoming examinations in prayer.

Launched with explosive praise and worship, the outdoor venue was a vibrant mix of over 100 students, teachers, mothers, pastors and peers.

Flying all the way from Melbourne, Australia; former principal Mr. Tony Waldron and his wife Jenny were Guests of Honour who addressed the students they had taught and known while they were here. Speaking of their upcoming exams Waldron was optimistic in his predictions for their results saying; “I believe we will see great results come out of these exams, you are leading the way for future generations just like you did when we first started this high school. I am confident you will be most successful.”

After delivering an uplifting sermon Bbira Village Pastor, Arora then instructed the students to hand pick a rose from the flowers provided and present it to their mothers. This rose giving ceremony brought many a tear to a mother’s eye as the students individually expressed their gratitude and heartfelt thanks for all their mothers had done.

Also speaking to the students carrying a message of inspiration and support was Mr, Daniel Kajubi, Principal of Hope High School Ssubi and Pastor Doug Stride.

Following this, a large cake was cut by Education Team Leader Dorcas Kibirige and Mr. Tony Waldron. Keeping in line with our traditional Watoto celebration culture, soda pop was also provided and much appreciated by all the attendees.

The day’s activities came to a close later that evening with a (teacher only) hearty traditional African dinner in honour of the Waldrons. The event was heralded a success by all involved.
