KEEP THE GIRL IN SCHOOL

Published in Living Hope Newsletter, November 2011

Excitement gripped the Gulu Living Hope Centre as Watoto Co-Founder Marilyn Skinner and a team of pastor's wives from the different Hillsong Churches in Europe visited the centre in June. The Hillsong delegation was led by Cathy Clarke, wife to the Senior Pastor of Hillsong Church London.

The Living Hope ladies lined up along the entrance and welcomed their sisters in true Acholi style with much singing and dancing. The pastors’ wives were challenged to try out a few of the dance moves, much to the delight of the Living Hope ladies.

As part of the initiative to 'Keep the Girl in School', the guests distributed donated panties and sanitary towels to teenage school girls at a local primary school. They also had the opportunity to inspire the girls with a message of God’s love. With the partnership of UNICEF Uganda, the 'Keep the Girl in School' initiative will be rolled out in more schools in northern Uganda.
